Frequently asked questions

Why is the UV index so high in India?

Most of India is close to the equator, so the sun is high in the sky for much of the year. UV is often 8 or more from March to June, even on hazy days.

Does pollution affect skin?

High AQI days add particles and oxidative stress to skin. A gentle evening cleanse and a good moisturiser help; harsh scrubbing does not.

How is the AQI here calculated?

It is estimated on the Indian (CPCB) scale from 24-hour average PM2.5 and PM10 data from Open-Meteo. Official CPCB station readings may differ.
