Under this medical review policy, articles on Topicals that make health claims, discuss treatments, or tell you when to see a doctor are checked by a qualified reviewer.
Who reviews
Reviewers are registered dermatologists or qualified pharmacists. A reviewer’s name and qualification appear only on the articles they have actually checked. Articles without a “Medically reviewed by” line have not yet been reviewed, and we are working to add reviewers.
What reviewers check
- That medical claims are accurate and supported by evidence
- That strengths, usage frequency and warnings are safe
- That “see a doctor if” guidance is included where it should be
Independence
Reviewers are paid a flat fee per article, never per product, and have no say in which products we recommend.
Review schedule
Reviewed articles are re-checked at least every 12 months, or sooner if guidance changes.
